After a year of break, I finally got to visit relatives place during the Chinese New Year holidays. But frankly speaking, I didn't feel it coming at all, I am really busy at work nowadays and there is a lot of things to be settled before the audit which is just 4 weeks away. I am new, I relied on certain info that my upper study gives me, but I just knew on the friday before Chinese New Year that I have more than 10 loan transactions that is outstanding and expired, yes I do know about a couple beforehand, but I was given this "Chinese New Year Present" by another colleague. The timing cannot be any "friendlier", but this is the nature of this office, you really need strong shield and armour. While it is true that I dunno the issues, I got to admit that I made a mistake. It is naive of me to trust and not to check. So I got a lot of s*** to settle before the audit, and I dunno how, trying to settle one thing at one time, but new stuff keep coming in, that I cannot seem to finish my work, this is even worst than what I used to have in those days in Nee Soon. I dunno if I can clear all the s*** but if i dun, given the politics in this office, it is so hard to predict what is going on. Instead of helping the inexperienced me, I can have colleague looking forward to the audit when he or she knows that there is so much s*** at my side.
If you are talking about teamwork and brotherhood that is associated with my organization, it is somehow missing from my office. Everyone is on their own. It is like war zones, there are many clans.
It is so much different from my previous office. I am trying to get used to it. But man, I seriously dun know how long I can last there. I didn't want to blog about this but f*** lah, I need a space to vent my frustration. I am seriously stressed over there.
But there is at least 17 months to go.
Back to Chinese New Year, I went over to my father place on Chinese New Year Eve, we went over to his girlfriend place at Sims Drive for a very late lunch at 3 plus, and then went back to his place. Got invited to his neighbour place by his friends from China to join their home cooked dinner at 6 plus, before finally going to my elder uncle's place at 8 plus for the traditional steamboat that I have been going, less the last 2 years. 3 meals in about 5 hours, that's really a feast haha. I went back to my father place after the dinner, before sharing cab at almost 1 plus in the morning after he is done with the prayers, he went to Sims Drive to meet his girlfriend who is going Genting Highlands with him later that morning, while I went back to Ghim Moh.
Since my father is not around, I only went to 1 place on the first day of Chinese New Year. That is to my elder uncle place. Hmmm well somehow I arrived there an hour after my sister does. I think the biggest enjoyment of this new year is to see the kids after so long, was "banned" from visiting after the death of my late mother - I saw one of my baby nephew and a very active baby cousin for the first time. So now, there is 12 kids over at the extended family at the moment - 2 cousins, the rest are my nephews and nieces. After having the lunch and the yearly card game, some of us went over to the place of my 3rd uncle in the late afternoon before dismissing.
The 2nd day of Chinese New Year, we met again to go to 2 of my cousins place. The journey is quite long, so my baby cousin play "hide and seek" with me in the car. She will tag my shoulders as I sit at the front seat, and then try to hide not to let me see her. Haha very cute. She is so not afraid of strangers that she already hold my hands and let me carry her. But actually she is recovering from fever, so I somehow become the next victim.
I was on leave on the 3rd day of the Chinese New Year. But practically I waste the leave by eating medicine and sleeping the whole day away. I guess I fall sick after being in close contact with my baby cousin and the heaty food.
It was a good break nonetheless, I am looking forward in meeting them more often, especially now the ban is "lifted"already =P
