Hmmm my first race for the year, actually stopped running for a few weeks due to illness and Chinese New Year, so wasn't in my best form for this. The course is quite challenging, there are quite a number of slopes in there which I hate running on, hahaha, and of coz with the crowd. They actually started the races in waves -but the normal runner wave got quite a lot of recreational runners in there also. I did 42"42 for this 6.2km Zoo Run, I went too fast for the first 2km as I enjoyed overtaking, that I started to struggle after that, and adopting the run walk approach and letting others to overtake. But nonetheless, a good run considering the usual pace for my run nowadays is 8-9 mins per km pace.
Went to help out at the SGRunners booth after the run. There was a buffet and an additional lucky draw catered for our members after the run. Originally in my mind, I was thinking maybe there will be an exclusive area for ourselves. But then, after seeing the buffet being set up besides the SGRunners booth, I can sense and smell trouble. And my instinct proved right when many members of the public coming for a free meal when the buffet started. I become an emergency "bouncer" guiding the "entrance" to the buffet area. Wah piang I still remember this unfriendly fat auntie in black who stared at us when we informed her that the food is for members of SGRunners. Despite putting up a notice that the buffet is meant for the members for SGRunners, I still caught so many of them trying to sneak in. Hahaha.
Well well, typical true blue Singaporeans attacted by queue, free food and drinks, as long as it is free.
Of coz there are the ones who signed up on the spot as members to enjoy the buffet, but that is fine, as long as they are registered members.
Actually we got a lot of food left as we orginally intended to open the area once the lucky draw ended, but haha being an typical true blue Singaporean, all dashed for the exit once the first prize for the Zoo Run lucky draw - the 42 inches LCD TV found its winner. Haha. Well didn't have any luck for the lucky draw for the Zoo Run, but finally got some luck for the lucky draw for SGRunners members - getting the 24th prize - a Giraffle Water Globe.
Assisted to tidy up and pack up the place after the lucky draw, and ta bao a lot of food before finally leaving in TLV - it's being a long long time since I took a lift on Teelee's van. Haha. Teelee sent me and Tiwazz to Ang Mo Kio Mrt before we took train home. Damn tired by the time I reached home.
By the way, for those complained the run is expensive, I heard that the organizer made a loss. The Zoo charged 10 dollars for per entry. And the shirts - I heard that they over-ordered - they were expecting 6000, but i think at most I saw 4000?
