Mizuno Wave Run

Frankly speaking, this run was not in my running calendar. Hmmm neither was Newton Run 2010. I thought that the two distances offered in Newton Run 2010, 30km and 18km was too long for my liking, especially my focus is back to the shorter distance. Then I was sorta influenced by my camp friend to join the Mizuno Wave Run, and I think the distance is just about right through I have not been running for more than 4km for quite a long while.

Almost cannot wake up this morning. Snoozed the alarm so many times before finally waking up at 0545hrs. Haha. Took the 2nd or 3rd east bound SMRT train, reaching Tampines at around 0710hrs, then boarded bus 23 to Temask Polytechnic. I managed to reach the stadium with 3 minutes to spare. Quickly changed and deposited my bag. I was still walking towards the track when the race started. So without much warm up, I joined in the race.

Well as I was caught towards the end of the pack, and there isn't much space to manoeuvre until Bedok Reservoir Park. My first 2.5km was slightly slower than 7 mins per km pace. I started to increase my pace a bit in Bedok Reservoir where I have more space. The next 5km I was keeping a good pace of under 7 mins per km pace. I managed to hit the 7.5km mark in around 50 mins. I knew at that point of time, I have quite a good chance to go under 70 mins and break my PB that I have set in the Newton Active Run in Mar last year. But not running for more than 4km recently has taken its toll on me.

I slowed down a lot considerably in the last 2.5km. My legs are getting really tired and I am starting to worry that it might cramp. I just wanted to finish the race in good shape, I stopped thinking about the PB. But as I reached the stadium, and with about 200m to go, I took a glance on my watch, I still have 45 sec or so to go under 70 mins. I remembered those interval trainings that I did in poly, I knew that it was possible. I gathered my final strength and strided towards the end point.

Finished the race with 13 sec to spare below 70 mins mark. It was a post operation personal best. Anyway I cannot remember my pre operation personal best anymore. So hahaha, just treat this as an all time personal best bah.

Let's hope that I can sustain this bah for next few runs bah.

But seriously my main goal is not personal best. My main objective is to lose weight. I know that I have been writting about this before. I am sick and tired about the struggle to pass the yearly requirement of the body mass index. There was quite been a issue this year becoz of the height issue. Apparently the height cannot be adjusted in the system already, and they keep measure me to be one cm higher. One cm make a hell of difference especially for pp like me whose weight is loitering at the bottom mark. Finally I cleared the BMI the other day with the supposedly lower height in the system. Thank goodness I was already starting on the lose weight regime, I have dropped 1.7kg in about 3 weeks.

But the recent body fat measurement which I took in the medical centre is a whopping high of 34% and according to the machine, I have at least 13kg of fats to lose. And my ideal weight should be about 65kg or so.

The numbers are alarming. Really. If I will to fail my BMI, my body fat % is a total fail.

Given the state of family history in certain illness, I realised that mine is just a ticking time bomb if I am still to continue to be a part of NATO (not actions talk only).

And also I guess that it is for the good of my own image. Need to lose my tummy. Totally out of shape, no girls like. Hahaha...

So ya it is really time to do something.
