I spent my 24th birthday in camp on Monday. That day was so hectic with lesson, 2 tests and a final co-ord meeting for the dining in until 8pm that it is just like another day. But seriously, i recalled that this is my first birthday that I spent in the camp over the years - either that I was on medical leave, birthday off or I took leave to enjoy my big day. But this year is different, my focus now is to finish the course.
My ankle is okay for the time being but it took something else to stop the old feeling. Well my chiong sua boots that has served me well for 4 years has reached its "end", with the rubber soles threatening to fall off already, leaving me with little choice but to turn to my parade boots. But because it's so new, I developed bisters and wound at the worst spot that I can think of - right at the operated wound of my ankle. So it took something more painful to overcome and forget the old feeling for the time being. But that doesn't stop the limping me from grabbing a chance to marshall the Super Puma on Friday. Though I cannot perform the run in and be directly under the chopper and feel the strong downwash, I still feel quite shiok and excited able to guide the Super Puma down and be responsible for the lives of the 3 person under the chopper who is doing the hook up.
With 5 official days till the end of the course and with little physical activities left, I dun think anything can stop me now. While it's time to slack for most, I am still left with 2 projects - dining in and cohesion which I hope that will be a success.

I managed to meet up with former colleagues on Tuesday evening at Raffles City Shopping Centre. The office always find time to arrange outing to catch up with former colleagues who has since gone ORD. It's nice and enjoyable to catch up with old friends that has formed a very big part of my life for the past 2, 3 years. Though I am moving on to another unit, I will still try my best to keep in touch and come for the outings.
I got an invitation to go for SP Track and Field bbq and chalet last night from someone that I least expected. And it's even weird that I went there and never get to see him. Haha. I have not been active in going back and help this year, with the fractured metatarsal earlier in the year, and this ultra long stay-in course, I did not have the luxury of time to go back now and then as I have wished. Which I hope will improve once I settled in my new appointment. Yes just like tuesday, it's nice to catch up with them, many of whom that I have not see since the early part of the year and some of them freshly graduated. There are also many new faces which I think will take time to warm up - this is after all the 5th batch since I left SP. I am gettin really old...
The best must be when I am looking around the chalet, I saw someone very familar opposite. It was Jeff, one of my colleague from other branch, who I have not seen since going for the course. Catch up with him with some of the developments - like body mass index becoming 25.0 instead of 27.0 which is going to affect me, and arranged with him a coffee session next week when I go back and do the necessary before posting out.
I didn't stay overnight through because I have an appointment later and I got some of the dining in stuff to settle - choice of music, my formal wear, etc
With the course almost over - my next focus is my BMI. Exactly 6 months to lose the necessary.
