Future of Ghim Moh.

This entry is based on my crystal ball prediction, not based on any reports.

I was at Singapore Pools (dun ask me why i am there) when i overheard this interesting conversation between a few uncles. They are saying that GXXX dun like Ghim Moh and the estate will "disappear" in 10 years time. Hahahahaha. Well well well the uncles are so funny. I dunno how they come up with such baseless conclusion. Anyway it's been the topic in coffeeshops for these few days since the news is out. Well naturally there are some complaints from the ground, afterall the new flats is going to be much smaller as compared to the flats bulit 30 over years ago.

The SERS programme that affected Block 9-12, they are only going to relocate along the Ulu Pandan connector (the canal) with a bridge connecting the new blocks to the older blocks over the canal. Well the downside as pointed out by IMD is the running route is going to be damn crowded with people cutting across.

The reason behind the relocation/redevelopment, based on purely on my foresight and prediction, is a new bus interchange, maybe with shopping centre. Buona Vista, is going to be the interchange for Circle Line, and the East West line. And with the Science Park, NUS nearby. The area is going to be crowded (well it's already quite crowded). So to fully intergrate the transport system, I am guessing they are going to combine the present Buona Vista Bus Interchange which is at Holland Village side, and the Ghim Moh Bus Interchange which is at Ghim Moh, and shift them to where the present block 12 are standing. So the bus interchange is just a throw away from the MRT. Than now the MRT is about 5-10mins away respectively from each bus interchange. Well purely just guessing.

Why i throw in a shopping centre, is because Holland Village is quite small. So just guessing that there might be such re-development.

Those uncles are predicting condos, well not ruling out the possiblility also.

I dun agree with the Ghim Moh estate will "disappear" as suggested by those uncles becoz besides those selected blocks, all the other blocks have went through upgrading. Mine was MUP - main upgrading programme somemore just 3 years ago. My flat was upgraded entirely - including inner. So i doubt so the estate will "go". But the neighbourhood is aging nonetheless, Ghim Moh Secondary, just behind my block, has closed down, merging with Jin Tai Secondary (which is quite far away) to form Clementi Woods Secondary at Jin Tai's present premises. Not sure about the primary school though, never go see, but when school is closed, normally is that the demand for spaces has dropped. Which is quite true, there are not many teenagers around in my estate.

Hmm interesting times ahead i guess for Ghim Moh, Buona Vista in the next few years. Looking forward to it.

Hello,
Your comment on the bus stop may not be a wise investment and It would be hard to see a prime land utilized for bus terminals. Shall wait to see the master plan or Ghim Moh.
Just in case, I like to add some Known Facts so we could set the comment made to an appropriate perspective:
The plot covering blk 9 to 12A had been re-zoned, i understood it is no longer under Ulu Pandan.
Accordance to MP during the election speech, It had been classified for residential use.
Trust this piece of info is helpful to readers.

Hi PTLY,

This post is dated close to 6 years ago, and it was a post purely based on speculation. Blk 9 to 12A residents has since moved to Ghim Moh Link. Technically, the boundaries of UP of GE11 stops at the park connector, but yes they have discussed a co-arrangement for the UP MP to take care of the Ghim Moh Link residents. Technically I do not think the plot covering blk 9 to 12A have been re-zoned yet, I may be wrong, I would probably check with my CD and reply here in a few days time.
