New "baby"

Didn't know where to go after the 9.5 km R2unners leisure run in MR. So decided to go walk walk and look for new year clothes, but then I also got this feeling that I must go to Velocity. My recent comeback has taken a toll of my current running shoes - which is NB1061. The shoes is already 16 months old but I still use it as my mileage is not very high anyway, but the soles is starting to wear out, and since my new resolution is to train regularly so I wanted to get another pair to switch around.

When I reached New Balance @ Velocity, I realized the shoes that I have been eyeing has arrived in Singapore. I was browsing through the net the other week, I know that NB1063 is already out in the States, so I didn't want to buy NB1062 and waited patiently for NB1063. I fell in love with NB1063 once I see it first hand.

The deal is even sweeter as there is 40% off after trading in your old running shoes ONLY FOR THIS WEEKEND. Hmmm but I didn't want to trade in my current running shoes, NB1061, which was with me. So I went back home, and have a proper bath, and headed back to Novena Velocity with my NB1060, which I have retired long ago, and is my walk walk shoes.

The rest is history. 129 dollars poorer. But it could be 86 dollars more worst. But a happy man, looking forward to bring my new baby for its maiden run.

Missed today's SGRunners BG Run, haha cannot wake up for it, as I am still tired from yesterday afternoon run. I was in good form yesterday, I took some advice from Coach Robin, and tried to follow it, and by doing so, I shed slightly more than 10 mins for the 9.5km route. It is still a slow timing - 82 mins, but you got to compare it to my first 2 timing for the route which is 93mins and 95mins, you can see a vast improvement, which I hope isn't one off. By the way, the trick got something to do with the distance marker.

Another reason that I missed the BG Run is that I wanted to rest my left knee. I still dunno what exactly is it. But I think that it is IT band tendonitis. I already has this problem since the half marathon in 2007. But as my mileage for 2008 was superb low, I didn't really trigger a reaction from it most of the runs until recently. That is why I am avoiding running 2 days in a row unless I do not have a choice. It will be fine after some rest.

My resolutions this year is to train regularly. That's why besides the weekly R2unners leisure run, I am looking to train at Mon and Wed night when I am out having night off and provided that I am out in the first place, but because of the location of my workplace, it is hard for me to join any group runs if there is any. I will be ninja-ing back in a "discrete" location, which isn't really discrete if you know me well.
