GE Woman 10k.

Alamak why am I blogging about this when I am a man? Haha. I went to the event as a supporter this morning. Bee chio me to go over MSN yesterday afternoon before i went out for an appointment, and after reading the forum that Renoh is going there as well to take pictures, I decided to pop by. It's been 4 months since I show up at any running events. Haha disappearing act.

Besides catching up with fellow female SGRunners, like Roonz, Bee, Brokie, Eliza, and a few more, I also happened to bump into my primary school mate, Hui Juan, who I have just found on Facebook earlier in the year after losing contact for 12 years. I also managed to see a couple of my SP track juniors.

So does this guest appearance reignite my interest in running? Yes I think it will have some effects after seeing them run. I have been doing some reflections and some autopsy on my running. I have decided that the up-coming half marathon would be my last half marathon for the time being. I wanted to enjoy running again and thus i decided the way to go is back to basics again.

I have been over-ambitous in the races that I have signed, opting for the longer distances becuase it's value for money. But more often than not, I have not trained or under-trained for the distances. Peer pressure applies also, because I am part of the SGRunners community, seeing how many runners signing up for marathons, and half-marathons, it more or less influenced my decision making at times. And so when it comes to race days, I have been consistently producing personal worst results due to my lack of fitness, and also at times affected by injuries. But with each bad run, confidence level goes lower. And it really doesn't help matters.

So for the year 2009 and beyond, I will only go for 5km -10km races to build up my foundations and my confidence level. Only with the time and the discipline to train and when I am ready to upgrade, then I would consider the longer distances again. I think that the plan should be able to get me going again.
