The pri sch gathering last night with Matthew and Miaomei was great. Initially thought that it might be a little bit awkward since i last saw them 3,4 years ago.
Saw Matthew a number of times in Ghim Moh when he was in RJC, before seeing him again in CPC where he worked during NS when i go back to submit my poly exams result or attend vacation briefing. Then the last time i saw Miaomei is when i arranged to meet her for dinner in NUS when we just found each other on friendster, though i have been keeping in touch with her on msn.
Reached at City Hall early as about 7.10pm, 20 minutes in advance (professional illness). Then Miaomei came about 7.25pm, and finally called Matthew at 7.40pm to find out that he's actually in the Raffles City Shopping Centre, trying to exchange something for his girlfriend. And finally we managed to meet up at around 7.45pm.
And then we decided to proceed to Marina Square, and have our dinner at Ministry of Food. Miaomei and I dun even know about the place, but Matthew who is back for vacation from studying aboard knows about it. So ironic. We managed to get a table without waiting for long - and that's lucky considered the crowd. The food there was very nice, i really enjoyed it that i finished it in quick time.
Over the dinner, we also catch up with each other, talking about work, life, other pri sch friends, and a possibility of arranging a even bigger gathering next time in Dec when he next come back.
After the dinner, we took a walk to the nearby Esplanade and went up to the roof garden - another first time for me, and i didn't know of its existence. Opps. And the view of the Singapore skyline from there is fantastic, and ya quite a romantic place to be at.
Saw that the dismantling of the stage area on the floating platform is on-going. Quite amazed that just 2 nights ago, we just have a wonderful parade there, and so fast they are removing everything - guess that they are getting ready to hand back control of the place to Singapore Sport Council soon.
After amazing at the night skyline, we gamely decided to go down the memory lane by visiting our primary school. And so we started to walk back to National Library Board where Matthew parked his family car, before embarking on the trip.
I have not went back to Cedar Primary School since my pri sch form teacher for last 2 years, Mr Yeoh, retired back 8 years ago if i didn't remember wrongly. And so quite surprised to find the school is now totally different, i know it was selected for a rebuilt thingy. Both of the blocks are tear down and rebuilt into one, standing at the former Block B is. Block A is completely gone, now you can only see grass, trees where it originally stood.
Then, Matthew drove Miaomei back to Bishan before driving me back to Ghim Moh - a extended trip down his memory lane, it's where the former RJC stood.
Reached home at 12mn. Tired butnonetheless enjoyed the great company.
